How I got here
I grew up in Delhi. I was the second student ever from my school to get into UCLA — Cognitive Science, computing specialization. Before AI safety, I was building climate platforms at 15, playing national football, doing research at NASA JPL and Singapore, running an AI consultancy with 40+ engineers.
The pivot to alignment wasn't a single moment. I was building profitable AI products — video agents, personal branding tools — and kept walking away from them to think about the bigger problem. Eventually I stopped walking away and just stayed.
What I got wrong early on: I thought the field needed more technical researchers. Turns out it also desperately needed people who could communicate what was happening to everyone else. That gap is what I'm trying to close now.
